Approach to Grants

The Foundation’s grantmaking activity is focused on the needs of artists by funding the institutions that support them. The Foundation issues a large number of relatively small grants to Toronto arts organizations; this enables it to respond to diverse interests. Individual grants generally range between $5 and $25,000. Grants are project-oriented with the goal of supporting work that might not otherwise receive the necessary funding.

Typically, grants are not given to meet operating budgets, and the Foundation does not make unrestricted grants. Grants are for a one-year period or less, and applicants should note that the Foundation is not to be considered a continuing source of annual funding.
